Cynthia's children were seeking a way that their physically frail mother with mid-stage dementia could socialize. The idea that preschoolers and the elderly get together daily seemed ideal. When they visited Gentog, they were impressed. They found the environment bright and the caregivers warm and friendly. They enrolled Cynthia for 2 short days (4-5 hours) each week.
Cynthia loves being with the little ones especially. She looks forward to the lunches that are served, and really likes days that include ice cream for dessert. And she LOVES doing the seasonal art projects. At Gentog Cynthia is able to have a social time with other people on a regular basis again. She looks forward to her time at Gentog. She loves to dress up, to wear her jewelry and to interact with the children. She loves just being out and about.
When asked what they'd say to people considering Gentog, Cynthia's children say that Gentog is a special day care program. The very young and elderly interact doing projects together or just visiting. The caregivers are also caring people, showing their interest in each person, taking care of their needs, and having games and art projects to keep their minds active.
