In this stage of development the desire and ability to be independent blossoms! With the help and steady support of their teachers the Bears class is focused on learning the skills they need to become strong, independent little learners. Skills include but are not limited to; dressing and undressing, toileting, putting their dishes away, helping make their beds, taking care of and putting away classroom toys and books. Kids take so much pride in each new skill learned, and have so much joy in showing and helping others to learn the same skills.
During all of this the bears are learning to sit for short periods of more “formal” learning during their morning meeting. They begin following the curriculum with weekly letters, numbers, and unit vocabulary in English, Spanish, and ASL. That being said, the fun doesn’t stop! Children learn best through play, art, and music, and there is plenty of that to be had in the bears room! This room is constantly full of activity!
The bears have scheduled “Grandparent Time” every morning at 10:30. They play games, do art, and listen to visiting musicians with our senior group. The seniors help them learn the rules of the game, how to use different art materials, and share their wisdom and stories from their own life. Bears also often have the chance to visit the seniors one on one with a teacher. They may visit for music time, to exercise with the seniors or just to say hello! At this age they also begin their music lessons, and their Art Adventures with Monique class in earnest!
We have 2 spaces in our toddler class of Tuesday, Sep 5. We accept ERDC payments. Please complete the enrollment application and schedule a tour to secure your spot.
