Sparkling Preschool

We are a licensed childcare center. We follow all of the guidelines to provide a safe environment for your child. We have multiple teachers sharing the space...so there are always multiple eyes watching the children.

There are 100 ways to run a preschool, a thousand ways to write a curriculum and a million different names to call it. There are also different restrictions on who is allowed to call themselves what kind of preschool. Reggio Emilia preschools are only found in Italy, Waldorf schools require a certain kind of training, Montessori require a certain school of set up, and while all great schools, none encapsulate all the values and goals of Gentog. All that Gentog is cannot be constrained to just one way of doing or thinking and

Champagne is named after the region in which its grapes are grown. While many great wines have replicated the style, and are amazing in their own right, they can’t be champagne unless they come from that region of France, they’re sparkling wine. Gentog isn’t Reggio Emilia, Montessori or Waldorf, it’s Sparkling Preschool. Gentog takes all the great things from many different styles of schooling and integrates them into one amazing program.

While students are learning colors, numbers, and ABC’s they are also learning community values.They learn the skills not only needed to succeed in practical life, like independence, cooperation, and responsibility, but also the skills to enjoy a beautiful life.

Through play and projects, students learn the basics of communication, music, art, language, mathematics, and so much more. With the help of the seniors next door they learn patience, grace, and courtesy. Their friends and teachers help them learn the value of teamwork, honesty, and generosity. Most importantly through every day and every activity, whether it be learning, playing, napping, or even cleaning, students are building confidence and skills knowing that they are loved, and practicing loving others in return. Gentog is a community of teachers, friends, parents, and grandparents celebrating a community of learners.

There is no one way to teach a preschooler, but at the end of the day all preschools believe that learning should be fun! There will be plenty of time for students to sit at desks, and practice paperwork when they are older. For now learning is all about exploring and experiences. The uniqueness and flexibility of Gentog’s program allows children to thrive, confidence to grow and personalities to bubble. Gentog isn’t just any school, it’s culture, it’s family, it’s art, it’s music, and so much more. It’s Sparkling Preschool.

Biblical Philosophy

We use a Christian curriculum. We focus on living our Christian faith. We are not sponsored by a particular church, and our staff comes from a variety of faiths...but we all share the goal of teaching our children to be kind, loving citizens of the world.

With each new unit comes a new bible verse or story. Gentog believes and teaches that everyone is created and treasured by a loving creator. That love is unconditional and not based on ability, behavior, or background. God’s love is a free gift, it will not and cannot be taken away. Teacher’s teach that God is always with us and loves to hear children pray, sing, and play, and that God’s love inspires us to love others. With this in mind each month students dive into a bible story that highlights God’s love for us, or sets an example for how they can show love to others.

Curriculum

Gentog uses an emergent curriculum. The curriculum is written each month and based on what students are interested in learning, and what teachers are interested in teaching. Teaching happens in many ways, as learning happens in many ways. While maintaining a small traditional circle time, the majority of the curriculum (colors, monthly focus, shapes, even bible stories) are taught through play, art, story telling, and classroom projects.

Each month students will have a new unit. With the unit comes unit vocabulary (which the Bears, Tigers, and Lions will have monthly signs for) unit songs, and unit art! While all classes will be exploring the same unit theme, they will have different learning goals. Lamb’s (infant-2) goals are usually centered around movement and communication. Many kids start to find their voice and independence between 6 weeks and two years, and Gentog creates an environment where they can develop it safely! Bears (2-3) can begin to take on bigger and more complicated projects, while still leaving time for some serious play! Lions and Tigers (3-5) will often be working on music, art, and play together, but Lions will have time for activities that help with kindergarten readiness.

In addition to the traditional curriculum students will also have a bible lesson for the unit, ongoing music classes with our resident musician and music director, as well as art lessons that teach about famous artists and art styles from around the globe!
